What does “building for AI” actually involve?
It does not mean publishing large amounts of AI-generated content. Your website must clearly explain who you are, what you do, and why you are credible, in plain language rather than copy that assumes the reader already knows your industry. Beyond that, an assistant looks for structured data that names your organization and offers in a form it can parse without guessing; direct answers stated first rather than buried under an introduction; content with a date, so the model can judge whether it still applies; and sources outside your site that confirm your claims, such as reviews, press, or mentions in your field. It also means letting the crawlers in. A robots.txt rule that blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or PerplexityBot keeps the site out of the running however good the content is. Check your robots.txt and your homepage copy first; both need nothing but a browser.
